Dynamics of the Long Term Housing Yield
Using a natural experiment in UK housing, Verónica Bäcker-Peral, Atif Mian and I have created a new series measuring the long term housing yield from 2003–present.
Our estimate of the long term housing yield is precise, avoids certain misspecification concerns, and provides real-time estimates using publicly available data.
The project website has real-time estimates and replication instructions. The associated paper is “Dynamics of the Long Term Housing Yield: Evidence from Natural Experiments”.
